Description
A scrimshaw quality horn is first selected based on availability. We will do our best to get a mostly white horn, but in any case it will be scrimshawable and beautiful. We affix a walnut base plug to it, leaving the horn in its natural shape. We then put a series of decorative flats at the tip of the horn, followed by a series of three rings and then a strap groove. The other end of the carry strap is affixed to an integrated finial or a brass drawer pull, depending on the shape of the base of the horn. A series of eight small brass nails are placed at the base. The horn comes complete with a leather carry strap and a rosewood violin peg for a stopper. We also put an extra amount of work into providing a smooth, scratch free surface to work on. The Medium horn will be from 8 to 10 1/2″ long, as measured on the bottom curve of the horn.
